The Valmiki Ramayana is one of the foremost ‘Pram\u0101n\u0101s (Evidences)’ for a Hindu. The epic traditionally ascribed to the\u00a0Maharishi\u00a0Valmiki. This epic is divided into seven k\u0101\u1e47\u1e0das: the ayodhyak\u0101\u1e47\u1e0da, the ara\u1e47yak\u0101\u1e47\u1e0da, the ki\u1e63kindak\u0101\u1e47\u1e0da, the sundar\u0101k\u0101\u1e47\u1e0da, and the la\u1e45k\u0101k\u0101\u1e47\u1e0da (also called Yuddhak\u0101\u1e47\u1e0da). These five Kandas are unanimously accepted by Hindus, but they differ about the Uttar\u0101k\u0101\u1e47\u1e0da & the B\u0101lak\u0101\u1e47\u1e0da. Though B\u0101lak\u0101\u1e47\u1e0da is sometimes considered in the main epic, according to many Uttarakanda is certainly a later interpolation and thus is not attributed to the work of Maharshi Valmiki. This is disputed issue among Hindu scholars.<\/p>\n
But Geeta Press (Gorakhpur) seems to have accepted it wholly, without compromising on any part including Uttarakanda. So, I do build up my words relying on this version published by Geeta Press.<\/p>\n
If we check on such authentic version of Valmiki Ramayana, there are several places which indicate that Rama, his wife Sita and his brother Lakshman would eat meat. Also it was common among them in their & other people’s life in Ramayan Period.<\/p>\n
Swami Vivekanand himself admitted the fact:<\/p>\n

“…Instances are found in the R\u00e2m\u00e2yana and the Mah\u00e2bh\u00e2rata of the drinking of wine and the taking of meat by Rama and Krishna,<\/span> whom they worship as God.
