I. ASTRONOMY<\/strong> The creation of the universe is explained by astrophysicists in a widely accepted phenomenon, popularly known as the ‘Big Bang’. It is supported by observational and experimental data gathered by astronomers and astrophysicists for decades. According to the ‘Big Bang’, the whole universe was initially one big mass (Primary Nebula). Then there was a ‘Big Bang’ (Secondary Separation) which resulted in the formation of Galaxies. These then divided to form stars, planets, the sun, the moon, etc. The origin of the universe was unique and the probability of it occurring by ‘chance’ is zero. The Qur’aan contains the following verse, regarding the origin of the universe:\u00a0“Do not the Unbelievers see That the heavens and the earth Were joined together (as one Unit of Creation), before We clove them asunder?<\/strong>” [Al-Qur’aan 21:30]<\/span><\/em> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Agniveer :<\/strong><\/span> Very poor evidence indeed! And that too factually incorrect! Dr. Naik has let his imagination loose in correlating big bang with this verse (21:30) of the Quran. Let’s analyze this verse closely. My Response :<\/span> <\/p>\n The first thing is that the Noble Qur’an is a revelation to the whole of humanity till the day of resurrection. The Noble Qur’an says :<\/span> It (Qur’an) is but a reminder to the worlds.<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span> -Surah Sad (38:87)<\/em><\/span><\/a> This means that it is not must to interpret such verses in Qur’an according to the ignorant arabs 1400 years ago. This verse is actually addressed to the scientific people who now know about The Creation of Universe and still call it a ‘chance’<\/span> and reject the belief in Allah.<\/span><\/span> The verse does not mean to actually see but it means to know about The Big Bang. The verse is actually asking a question to today’s atheists :\u00a0<\/span> Then will they not believe?<\/strong><\/span> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Agniveer :<\/span> <\/p>\n Then the verse says “that the heavens and earth were joined together, before We clove them asunder?” \u2013 This rustic imagination has nothing to do with the big bang.\u00a0The earth was formed billions of years after the big bang<\/strong>!! And most importantly,\u00a0earth<\/strong>\u00a0was not parted from the universe, it\u00a0is, was and will remain a part<\/strong>\u00a0of the Universe!<\/span> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n My Response :<\/span> <\/p>\n The phrase Samawa’ti wal-ard <\/em>meaning Heaven(s) and Earth<\/em><\/span>\u00a0refers to the universe in totality<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Big Bang model states that all matter was initally condensed to a point of\u00a0Infinite Density\u00a0and\u00a0Zero Volume\u00a0(Nothingness) and everything separated to form galaxies , stars , planets and other objects of space. (Source:\u00a0http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Big_Bang<\/span><\/a>)<\/span> <\/p>\n Noble Qur’an in the above verse says that the\u00a0heavens\u00a0( Arabic :\u00a0Sama<\/span> :\u00a0Meaning :\u00a0Space excluding Earth \u00a0)\u00a0<\/span><\/em>\u00a0and the\u00a0earth\u00a0( Arabic :\u00a0Ard<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0)<\/em> were a\u00a0joint entity\u00a0( Arabic : ratq<\/span> :\u00a0<\/em>Meaning :\u00a0blended , stitched , joint etc. )<\/em>\u00a0and God\u00a0separated them\u00a0( Arabic :\u00a0fataqa<\/span>\u00a0:<\/em>\u00a0Meaning :\u00a0that something comes about by tearing apart or destroying the structure of\u00a0ratq<\/span> ).<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The Qur’an clearly states more than 1400 years ago exactly what has been proved less than 50 years ago that all universe ( Heavens and Earth ) was blended (\u00a0ratq<\/em>\u00a0) into a single piece of\u00a0Infinite Density\u00a0and Allah separated it (fataqa )\u00a0<\/em>which led to the formation of all celestial bodies.<\/span><\/p>\n Qur’an <\/p>\n Are not the disbelievers willing to consider that the heavens and the earth used to be one solid mass that We exploded into parting (79:30) and We made out of water every living thing? (24:45). Will they not then (some day) believe? (Numerous celestial bodies came into being and started swimming along in their orbits<\/span> (21:33), (36:40)).<\/span> <\/p>\n Notice the importance of the word blend\/stitch (ratq) here which refers to a point of enormous density. <\/p>\n The Qur’an refers to the gaseous celestial matter before the creation of heavenly bodies \u00a0perfectly as dukhan. <\/p>\n Nowhere does the Noble Qur’an say that the earth was thrown out of the universe.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span> <\/p>\n EXPANSION OF THE UNIVERSE<\/strong><\/span> <\/p>\n It has been proved now by celestial observations that the galaxies are drifting away and the universe in expanding.<\/span> Stephen Hawking says :<\/span> \u00a0The expansion of the universe was one of the most important intellectual discoveries of the 20th century, or of any century.<\/span><\/strong><\/span> \u00a0Allah says in The Glorious Qur’an :<\/span> And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander.<\/strong><\/span> <\/p>\n The above verse clearly states that the Universe is being expanded by Allah.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n Agniveer :<\/span> Another important thing to note is how conveniently (read unscientifically) Dr. Naik assumes the word ‘heaven’ in the verse to mean ‘universe’. Unfortunately, despite this innovation, the verse turned out to be a scientific disaster and a non-revelation.<\/span> My Response :<\/span> <\/p>\n The Arabic word used in the verse is Sama <\/em>which means heaven(s), sky, firmament etc. and Where did Dr. Zakir say that here only the word Heaven means Universe ?<\/strong><\/span>. Heaven(s) refers to all the celestial objects except earth and the phrase Heavens and Earth <\/em>when it occurs in The Noble Qur’an refers to the universe in totality.<\/span> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Agniveer :<\/span> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n By the way, the Quranic heaven is a 7 storied building\/canopy over the earth. Interestingly, not only the Quranic heaven but the Quranic earth has seven layers too (Quran 65:12 [Yusuf Ali]\u00a0“Allah is He Who created seven Firmaments and of the earth a similar number<\/strong>.”<\/span> <\/p>\n My Response :<\/span> The Noble Qur’an \u00a0states :<\/span> And We made the sky a protected ceiling<\/strong><\/span>, but they, from its signs, are turning away.<\/span>\u00a0–<\/em><\/span><\/a><\/span>Surah Anbiya (21:32)<\/em><\/span>

All the heavenly bodies (earth,stars,planets etc.) were formed from the same mass that expanded.<\/strong><\/span><\/span> (This is what is meant by heavens and earth joint together<\/strong><\/span>) as Shabbir Ahmad explains in his translation of the Noble Verse :
